After Earth

After Earth

Will Smith and Jaden Smith have already shown that they are a great acting team and this summer sees them reunite for After Earth.

This sci-fi project is the first movie that they have starred in since The Pursuit Of Happyness - in that time we have seen Will star in very few movies while Jaden has been making a name for himself.

But the father and son team play a father and son in After Earth - a movie that sees M. Night Shyamalan back in the director's chair.

Shyamalan was one of the most exciting directors when he was releasing movies such as The Sixth Sense and Unbreakable but over the last few years the movie really haven't been that great.

But there is more of a blockbuster vibe to this latest project as the director looks to get his career back on track.

Despite the few duds that Shyamalan has put out in recent years there is still an air of excitement around his releases as you never quite know what he is going to do.

What little footage I have seen of the movie suggests that it is going to be somewhat of a visual treat and it will be interesting to see the director tackle a much bigger project.

We really haven't seen too much of Will Smith on the big screen as this will be only his second film outing since Seven Pounds back in 2008 - the other being Men in Black 3.

Jaden Smith is a young talent to watch out for but it is great to see him work sparingly over the last couple of years and this is another very big role for the young actor.

Zoe Kravitz, Isabelle Fuhrman and Sophie Okonedo make up the exciting cast list.

A crash landing leaves teenager Kitai Raige (Jaden Smith) and his legendary father Cypher (Will Smith) stranded on Earth, 1,000 years after cataclysmic events forced humanity’s escape.

With Cypher critically injured, Kitai must embark on a perilous journey to signal for help, facing uncharted terrain, evolved animal species that now rule the planet, and an unstoppable alien creature that escaped during the crash.

Father and son must learn to work together and trust one another if they want any chance of returning home.

It is great to see Will and Jaden Smith back together and After Earth looks set to be a movie not to miss.
