Channing Tatum in White House Down

Channing Tatum in White House Down

Channing Tatum is back on the big screen this week as he leads an all star cast in White House Down; which one again sees him show off his action hero credentials.

It has already been a busy year for the actor with roles in G.I. Joe: Retaliation as well as a cameo appearance in comedy This Is The End.

But White House Down sees him work with director Roland Emmerich for the first time, while Jamie Foxx and Maggie Gyllenhaal are also on the cast list.

And if you are a fan of Tatum then you are in for a treat as he has a whole host of projects heading out way over the next twelve months.

The new time that we see Tatum on the on big screen with be in a cameo role in Don Jon; a film which marks the directorial debut of Joseph Gordon Levitt.

Along with Oscar winner Anne Hathaway, Tatum will back a movie star in Don Jon, who appears in a film in the movie.

Foxcatcher is a Tatum project to watch out for as he is set to take on the role of Mark Schultz.

Directed by Bennett Miller the biopic movie will follow the story of the Olympic Wrestling Champion and the paranoid schizophrenic John duPont, who killed his brother Dave.

This is the first film for Miller since he enjoyed huge success with Moneyball and I am excited to see him back in the director's chair.

A terrific cast has been assembled for the film as Tatum is joined by Mark Ruffalo, Sienna Miller, Vanessa Redgrave and Steve Carell; Carell looks almost unrecognisable as duPont.

This is perhaps one of the more serious roles in Tatum's career and it is going to be great to see him handle a real story and a sensitive subject.

Tatum will also step into voice work in the new year as he has joined the cast of The Lego Movie.

Tatum will bring the character of Superman to life, alongside Cobie Smulders, Morgan Freeman, Elizabeth Banks, Jonah Hill and Liam Neeson.

But the Channing Tatum movie that I am most looking forward to in 2014, comes in the form of Jupiter Ascending.

Filming is still underway on the movie as Andy and Lana Wachowski return to the director's chair; they have also penned the screenplay for the film.

We have already been treated to some wonderful sci-fi films this year, and hopefully we will continue to see that trend continue into 2014.

The movie will follow a human woman, who is targeted for assassination by the Queen of the Universe because her existence threatens the reign of the Queen.

Mila Kunis is on board as Jupiter Jones, while Sean Bean, Eddie Redmayne and Douglas Booth are all also set to star.

The Wachowski's have delivered some fantastic sci-fi films over the years and this would be their first film since Cloud Atlas - which remains one of the movies of the year for me.

Tatum is also set to return to comedy as he will reunite with Jonah Hill for 22 Jump Street.

21 Jump Street was released back in 2012 and was one of the best comedy films of the year; I am personally thrilled to see the pair of them back.

Phil Lord and Chris Miller are back in the director's chair, while Tatum and Hill will reprise the role of Jenko and Schmidt.

The project is still in the pre-production stage so nothing is currently known about the plot.

As you can see Tatum has a very busy year ahead of his as he is set to jump from biopic movies to science fiction and comedy.

White House Down is released 13th September.
