Thor: The Dark World

Thor: The Dark World

Thor: The Dark World is set to be one of the most successful movies of the year, and the release date is creeping closer and closer.

This is one of the movies that I have been looking forward to for some time as it promises to be bigger and better than the first film.

We have some brand-new images to share with you and feature funnyman Chris O'Dowd in a restaurant with the lovely Natalie Portman.

O'Dowd is one of the new faces on the Thor: The Dark World cast list as he takes on the role of Richard - quite where he is going to fit into the story is uncertain.

Natalie Portman is reprising the role of Jane Foster, while Kat Dennings, who also features in the images, is returning to the role of Darcy.

This will be the first time that we have seen Thor on the big screen since the success of Avengers Assemble, as Chris Hemsworth returns to the title role.

This time around Thor will be doing battle with Malekith, the first time that we have seen this character appear in a Marvel film. The character will be played by Christopher Eccleston: he looks fantastic in all of his prosthetics and makeup.

Thor: The Dark World continues the big-screen adventures of Thor, the Mighty Avenger, as he battles to save Earth and all the Nine Realms from a shadowy enemy that predates the universe itself. In the aftermath of Marvel’s "Thor" and "Marvel’s The Avengers," Thor fights to restore order across the cosmos...but an ancient race led by the vengeful Malekith returns to plunge the universe back into darkness.

Faced with an enemy that even Odin and Asgard cannot withstand, Thor must embark on his most perilous and personal journey yet, one that will reunite him with Jane Foster and force him to sacrifice everything to save us all.

2013 has already been a great year for Marvel movies, and Thor: The Dark World looks set to continue that fine success.

Thor: The Dark World is released 30th October.
