Daniel Brühl

Daniel Brühl

Daniel Brühl has slowly been making a name for himself in recent years bit 2013 looks set to be a breakthrough twelve months for the actor.

Brühl has some exciting and high profile projects hitting the big screen this year and some more in the pipeline.

He kicked off his acting career back in 1999 when he appeared in Schlaraffenland but he didn't make his English speaking debut until 2004 with Ladies in Lavender alongside Maggie Smith and Judi Smith.

The same year he grabbed everyone's attention with Love in Thoughts and The Edukators - winning a Best Actor People's Choice award for the former.

Throughout the mid noughties he worked steadily with roles in Salvador and A Friend of Mine as well as 2 Days in Paris and The Bourne Ultimatum.

The biggest role of his career came in 2009 when he teamed up with Quentin Tarantino for Inglourious Basterds.

He took on the role of German war hero Frederick Zoller alongside the likes of Brad Pitt, Christoph Waltz and Michael Fassbender.

Inglourious Basterds was Tarantino's most commercially successful movie and it went on to be nominated for a Best Picture Oscar.

The movie really did throw Brühl into the mainstream and since then his star has well and truly been on the rise.

And that star is set to rise even further this week with a handful of exciting projects.

One of the movies that I am most looking forward to is Rush - which sees him team up with director Ron Howard and actor Chris Hemsworth.

He will play Niki Lauda in a biopic about the Formula 1 drive and his longstanding rivalry with James Hunt (Hemsworth).

Brühl will also be appearing in A Most Wanted Man, which is the latest film from director Anton Corbijn.

It is the latest John le Carre novel to be adapted for the big screen and will also star Rachel McAdams and Philip Seymour Hoffman.

The actor is currently filming The Fifth Estate - which is a film about WikiLeaks and the controversy that followed the leaking of confidential documents.

Brühl will play Daniel Domcheit-Berg in the film alongside Benedict Cumberbatch who will play Julian Assange.

The future looks more than bright for Daniel Brühl and he is an actor to really keep and eye on this year.
