Dolphin Tale 2

Dolphin Tale 2

Starring: Harry Connick Jr, Morgan Freeman, Ashley Judd, Nathan Gamble

Director: Charles Martin Smith

Rating: 3/5

It was back in 2011 when we were introduced to Winter and this uplifting true story of one dolphin's fight to live.

Charles Martin Smith has returned to the big screen this week, to continuing this wonderful uplifting story.

It has been several years since young Sawyer Nelson (Gamble) and the dedicated team at the Clearwater Marine Hospital, headed by Dr. Clay Haskett (Connick, Jr.), rescued Winter.

With the help of Dr. Cameron McCarthy (Freeman), who developed a unique prosthetic tail for the injured dolphin, they were able to save her life. Yet their fight is not over.

Ok, Dolphin Tale 2 treads the same path as its predecessor, but it is good clean, uplifting family entertainment.

I was a big fan of the first movie, and I think any fan of that film is going to love this sequel.

This is one of those movies that just warms the cockles of your soul: you won't find a movie that has a bigger heart than Dolphin Tale 2 this year.

Of course, the talented cast of Connick Jr, Freeman, and Judd are not stretched in any way from and acting point of view, and yet you can tell that this is a project that is very special to them.

There is also enough emotion, angst, and drama that will keep audiences of all ages interested and hooked. Thrown in some terrific underwater shots and you have a solid movie.

Personally, I don't think that this had the same emotional impact as the first film, but I found Dolphin Tale 2 to be a truly charming movie.

The script is strong and the central performances are solid, with some excellent chemistry between the lead characters.

Dolphin Tale 2 is a welcome break from all of the CGI driven movies that are constantly shoved in our face and it is true and honest family drama.

Dolphin Tale 2 is out now.
