Dwayne Johnson in G.I. Joe: Retaliation

Dwayne Johnson in G.I. Joe: Retaliation

I you love a bit of Dwayne Johnson like we do at FemaleFirst then you are in for a treat this year as he is starring in a whole host of projects.

He is back on the big screen this week as one of the new faces in G.J. Joe: Retaliation and he has a string of other exciting movies on the horizon.

It was back in 2009 that we were introduced to the G.I. Joe franchise and now the Joes are back and facing an even bigger challenge.

Johnson is set to take on the role of Roadblock in the movie and is joined on the cast list by Channing Tatum, returning to the role of Duke, and another new face in the form of Bruce Willis.

Jon M.Chu is in the director's chair this time around as they aim to make it even more explosive than the first film.

And we will not have to wait long to see Johnson back on the big screen as he will lead the cast in action/thriller Snitch next week - the film has already been released in the U.S.

The movie sees Johnson team up with director Ric Roman Waugh who is back in the chair for the first time since Felon.

Johnson plays a father who goes undercover for the DEA to infiltrate a drug cartel in a bid to help his son who has been wrongly accused of a drug distribution crime.

The beginning of May will see him back as he teams up with Mark Wahlberg for action/comedy Pain & Gain.

Directed by Michael Bay the movie is based on a true story and is inspired by a series of Miami New Times articles by investigative journalist Pete Collins back in 1999.

The film will followed a trio of bodybuilders whose extortion and kidnapping scheme doesn't go to plan.

Anthony Mackie, Rebel Wilson, Ken Jeong and Ed Harris are all also on the cast list for what looks set to be a rather fun ride.

But there is really only one Dwayne Johnson movie that everyone is talking about this year and that is, of course, Fast & Furious 6.

We were introduced to the character of Luke Hobbs for the first time in Fast Five 2 years ago and Johnson reunites with Vin Diesel and Paul Walker for this new film.

Justin Lin returns to the director's chair while Jordana Brewster, Michelle Rodriguez and Tyrese Gibson are all also back.

This time around Hobbs requires the help of Dominic and Brian to help bring down a gang - led by new character Owen Shaw (Luke Evans) to justice.

Fast & Furious 6 was one of the most talked about movies after the trailer was shown at the Super Bowl earlier this year and is looks set to enjoy huge success.

Fast 5 is the most successful film in the franchise to date so can Fast 6 get anywhere near the $626 million posted by it's predecessor two years ago.

Empire State is the final Dwayne Johnson movie of the year - but we don't have a release date for the film.

Directed by Dito Montiel the film sees Johnson team up with Liam Hemsworth, Emma Roberts and Nikki Reed.

Johnson not only has a load of films to be released this year but he also has plenty to be working over the next twelve months.

Ciudad and Lore are in the pipeline while he has also been linked to Arabian Nights and the role of Sinbad.
