Evan Goldberg

Evan Goldberg has made a name for himself in recent years as a writer and producer, but this week he makes the leap into the director's chair.

Goldberg has reunited with his long time writing partner Seth Rogen and together they both make their directorial debut with This Is The End.

This Is The End is set to be one of the most outrageous comedies of the year as James Franco, Rogen, Jonah Hill and Emma Watson all play exaggerated versions of themselves as they face the end of the world.

Goldberg kicked off his career back in 2004 when he joined the writing team of Da Ali G Show along with buddy Seth Rogen.

Along with Sacha Baron Cohen, Dan Mazer and co Goldberg had a hand in penning the episodes in the second season; the team were nominated or the Outstanding Writing for a Variety, Music or Comedy Program Emmy for their work on the show.

He made the movie into movies in 2007 as be produced Knocked Up before going on to writer and produce Superbad and Pineapple Express.

Superbad and Pineapple Express saw him writing with Rogen once again and the pair enjoyed huge success with these two projects; Superbad has gone on to become a cult hit.

He would team up with Rogen again in 2011 to bring The Green Hornet to the big screen - a film that Rogen would star in.

However the duo did not enjoy the success that they had had with their previous projects as the movie was panned and performed poorly at the box office.

Goon would be Goldberg's next project as he teamed up withJay Baruchel to pen the screenplay for comedy Goon. A sequel is in the pipeline but just who is involved is not yet clear.

Since then he has mixed writing work with producing as he penned the screenplay for The Watch while produced 50/50 and The Guilt Trip.

But this week he is making that leap into the director's chair with This Is The End - a screenplay he and Rogen have also written.

This Is The End follows six friends trapped in a house after a series of strange and catastrophic events devastate Los Angeles.

As the world unravels outside, dwindling supplies and cabin fever threaten to tear apart the friendships inside.

Eventually, they are forced to leave the house, facing their fate and the true meaning of friendship and redemption.

And we are going to be seeing Goldberg back in the producer role next year with The Townies.
