No movie year is complete without a Marvel film and Ant-Man is set to be the second to hit the big screen in 2015. Ant-Man is just one of the new franchises that are on the horizon and will end Phase 2 with a bang.

Ant Man

Ant Man

We are huge fans of Marvel here at FemaleFirst and Ant-Man is a movie that we are really looking forward to and I cannot wait to see Paul Rudd make an appearance in Captain America; Civil War next year.

To celebrate the release of Ant-Man, we look back at the Marvel Cinematic Universe movies and pick out some of our favourite moments so far - and boy, have there been plenty to choose from!!!!

- Avengers Unite In New York - Avengers Assemble

Avengers Assemble hit the big screen back in 2012 and saw Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, Black Widow, Hulk, and Hawkeye come together for the first time... of course, they are called upon to save the earth from the clutches of Loki.

However, will all these heroes and personalities brought together teamwork is not something that comes naturally to them. However, when the chips are down and the alien invasion of New York is in full swing, the Avengers come together.

Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, Black Widow, Hulk, and Hawkeye stand side by side, see eye to eye for the first time, and remains the BEST Marvel movie moment so far:

- Steve Rodgers Become Captain America - Captain America: The First Avenger

Chris Evans took over the role of Captain America for the first time back in 2011 when Captain America: The First Avenger hit the big screen and kicked off a brand new franchise.

I don't know how they made Evans look small and skinny but we see the character of Steve Rodgers undergo quite a physical transformation when he is selected by Dr Erskine to be the subject of a 'super soldier' experiment.

In this scene, we see Erskine's serum work and Rodgers becomes the hero that will take on Johann Schmidt aka the Red Skull:

- Tony Stark Escapes From Cave - Iron Man

It was Iron Man that really kicked off the Marvel Cinematic Universe back in 2008 and I cannot see anyone other than the fantastic Robert Downey Jr playing this great role.

The beginning of the movie sees Stark as a playboy but only when he is kidnapped and held hostage does he change his ways and becomes Iron Man. Held against his will Stark builds a suit that will help him escape the cave that he is his prison cell.

Escaping the cave is the first time that we do see Stark in a suit and is the first big action scene of the movie:

- Hulk vs Loki - Avengers Assemble

The Marvel movies may be action packed but they are as funny as they are high octane - I personally love the comedy that we see in all of the Marvel films.

One of the best comedy moments comes in Avengers Assemble when the Hulk finally gets his hands on Loki. Not only does Loki get duffed up by the Hulk but he is also called a 'puny god.' This remains one of my favourite moments from all of the Marvel movies:

- Captain America vs The Winter Soldier - Captain America: The Winter Soldier

Captain America vs The Winter Soldier was the second solo Captain America movie to hit the big screen and was released last year - going on to become one of the highest grossing and most critically acclaimed films of 2014.

The film sees Rodgers adapting life in his new world and continues to fight as a member of S.H.I.E.L.D. There are a whole host of great fight scenes in The Winter Solider but it is the first street fight between Rodgers and this mysterious enemy that is one of the best.

The scene shows that the Winter Solider has a great set of battle skills of his own and is more than a match for Captain America. And this scene finally gives us the answer we were all looking for... who is the Winter Solider?

- Thor Regains Hammer & Powers - Thor

It is fair to say that at the beginning of Thor, the title character is arrogant and his banishment from Asgard by his father is just what he deserves.

However, Thor's banishment to earth is his father's way of teaching him a lesson and it is here that he learns the error of his ways and become worthy of the powers that he possessed and took for granted on Asgard.

It is only when Thor tries to project the people of earth from the Destroyer does he regain his powers and his hammer. Finally becoming the hero that he was meant to be:

- Escape From The Kyln - Guardians of the Galaxy

Guardians of the Galaxy is the last new Marvel franchise that we saw hit the big screen - and it went on to enjoy critical and huge commercial success in the summer of 2014.

Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Vin Diesel, and Bradley Cooper took on the roles of Peter Quill, Gamora, Drax, Groot, and Rocket who come together as a team for the first time to escape the Kyln - prison.

Together, they prove that they are a formidable force and go on to do battle with Ronan:

- Iron Man Protects Villagers in Gulmira - Iron Man

Tony Stark comes out of captivity a changed man and soon starts to build a suit like the one that got him to safety - a little more refined of course.

Once completed Stark sets out to destroy the weapons that have been sold without his knowing. Saving the people of Gulmira is the first big action scene for Stark and the Iron Man suit and we get a taste of what he has created:

- Black Widow Comes Face to Face with Loki - Avengers Assemble

Black Widow is one of my favourite characters in the Marvel universe and one that should certainly get her own solo movie.

We did see her in Iron Man 2 but it was Avengers Assemble that we really saw her come into her own. The film's best scene sees the Black Widow come face to face with an imprisoned Loki.

Loki may think he has the upper hand but Black Widow extracts the information she needs from him without lifting a finger. This remains one of the greatest one on one character moments in all of the Marvel movies so far:

Other great Marvel movie moments include Iron Man save New York from nuclear missile in Avengers Assemble, Bucky falls to death in Captain America: The First Avenger, Captain America cameo in Thor: The Dark World, and the death of Coulson in Avengers Assemble.

Ant-Man is released 17th July.
