Samuel L. Jackson

We always talk about which movies have performed well at the box office but we never really discuss at which actors have been raking in the cash.

No movie can be successful without some great actors on board and there are some that have been very lucrative at the box office.

We take a look at some of the actors who, along with the movies that they have starred, have enjoyed big success.

Samuel L. Jackson - $10.9 billion

Samuel L. Jackson is not just one of the most recognisable faces on the big screen but he is also the coolest man on the planet.

During his very illustrious career he has appeared in over a hundred movies so it doesn't come as any surprise to see that Jackson has done very well for himself.

But it is his blockbuster work then really has seen him bring in the cash with the likes of Star Wars Episode 1: The Phantom Menace and the Iron Man franchise being hugely successful.

And it is in the Marvel movies where he has thrived with the two Iron man movies taking over $1 billion - even though he is uncredited in the first film.

Phantom Menace took another billion but it is Avengers Assemble that is the highest grossing movie of his career.

Avengers Assemble took over $1.5 billion last summer to become the third biggest movie of all time.

And while he may have been picking up praise and accolades for performances in the likes of Tinker Tailor Solider Spy he has also been having huge blockbuster success.

Oldman may have kicked off his career in 1979 but it is his films of more recent times that have had the tills ringing.

In recent years Oldman has had three movies that have grossed over $1 billion at the box office - and not may other actors have his billion dollar record.
