Jennifer Lawrence ended 2015 with as The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 2 was a huge success and brought the franchise to a close with an almighty bang... and she is set to continue that success with new drama Joy.

Joy

Joy

Joy not only marks the return of Lawrence to the big screen, but it also sees the Oscar winning actress reunite with filmmaker David O. Russell. Joy will mark their third film project together and comes after the success of Silver Linings Playbook and American Hustle.

As well as being in the director's chair, Russell has penned the screenplay, which is inspired by the life of Joy Mangano; become an inventor, an entrepreneur and build a business empire around the Miracle Mop.

Lawrence is set to take on the role of Joy Mangano in the film and I cannot wait to see the actress reunite with Russell - they seem to bring the best out of each other and it is great to see them back together once again.

However, it is not all about Lawrence as Russell has brought together a wonderful cast list that also sees him work with Robert De Niro and Bradley Cooper once again. Edgar Ramírez, Elisabeth Röhm, Dascha Polanco, and Isabella Rossellini complete a terrific line-up.

Joy is the wild story of a family across four generations centred on the girl who becomes the woman who founds a business dynasty and becomes a matriarch in her own right. Betrayal, treachery, the loss of innocence and the scars of love, pave the road in this intense emotional and human comedy about becoming a true boss of family and enterprise facing a world of unforgiving commerce.

Allies become adversaries and adversaries become allies, both inside and outside the family, as Joy's inner life and fierce imagination carry her through the storm she faces.

It is always great when a Jennifer Lawrence movie is on the horizon as she really is one of the most exciting and versatile actresses working in Hollywood at the moment. And while I love her as Katniss Everdeen, she is a terrific dramatic actress and Joy really is promising to be another performance that you cannot miss.

It will come as no surprise to discover the Joy is already being tipped as a possible Oscar contender and I would expect to see Lawrence in the mix when the nominations are announced in a few weeks.

Lawrence already has a Best Actress win under her belt, as well as another Best Actress and Best Supporting Actress nod for her work on Winter's Bone and American Hustle.

Joy is released 1st January.
