Marc Forster is back in the director's chair this week as he teams up with Brad Pitt for the first time to helm World War Z.

The movie is a big screen adaptation of the Max Brooks novel of the same name and bring the zombie apocalypse back to the big screen.

Forster learnt his trade at the New York University's film school before making his feature film directorial debut back in 2000.

Everything Put Together was that debut and brought the director immediate success as he won the Grand Jury Prize at the Sundance Film Festival.

But it was to be his second film Monster's Ball that proved to be his breakthrough as he enlisted the help of Halle Berry and Billy Bob Thornton.

The movie followed the developing relationship between a widowed prison guard and a woman whose husband is on death row.

Monster's Ball was a major critical success and saw Halle Berry win the Best Actress Oscar.

Forster's star rose even further with Finding Neverland, a movie that look at the about J.M Barrie and the family that inspired him to write Peter Pan.

Johnny Depp took on the role of Barrie while Kate Winslet, Freddie Highmore, Julie Christie and Dustin Hoffman made up an exciting cast list.

Finding Neverland remains one of Foster's best movies of his career so far as it picked up a Best Picture Oscar nomination.

It picked up seven Oscar nods in total; including Best Actor and Best Adapted Screenplay for David Magee. Jan A.P. Kaczmarek went on to win for Best Original Score.

But Forster can never be accused of working on similar project as he moved from psychological thriller Stay, to comedy Stranger then Fiction and hard hitting adaptation The Kite Runner.

In 2008 he stepped into the world of the big budget blockbuster for the first time as he directed Quantum of Solace.

Quantum of Solace was the twenty second Bond movie and it was the second time that Daniel Craig had played 007.

The movie may not have been as well received by the critics as Casino Royale but it still went on to gross in excess of $586 million; making it the third biggest Bond film behind Skyfall and Casino Royale.

Machine Gun Preacher was the last time that we saw Forster in the director's chair as he teamed up with Gerard Butler.

The movie was a biopic about Sam Childers, an outlaw biker who turns his life around dedicating it to the children of Africa.

Two years on and Forster is back with World War Z as he returns to a blockbuster project.

The movie follows United Nations employee Gerry Lane (Pitt), who traverses the world in a race against time to stop the Zombie pandemic that is toppling armies and governments and threatening to decimate humanity itself.

Forster has brought together a great cast as Pitt stars alongside Mireille Enos, Matthew Fox and James Badge Dale.

Forster and Pitt have been whipping up a storm on the promotional tour that has taken them around the world and World War Z looks set to enjoy box office success.
