Bolt

Disney's Bolt has proved that it is top dog shooting to the top of the box office in it's opening weekend.

Bolt follows a German Shepherd, has lived his whole life on the set of his action TV show, where he believes he has superpowers.

When separated from the studio by accident, he meets Mr. Mittens (actually a female cat) and an oversized, radioactive rabbit named Rhino. Along the way, he learns that he doesn't have superpowers and that the show is not realistic

The film toppled last week's number one The Curious Case of Benjamin Button after just one week in the top spot as the Oscar nominated movie fell to number four.

After six weeks on the chart Slumdog Millionaire climbed one place to number two and He's Just Not That Into You fell one place to round off the top three.

Dog based movies were all the rage this week as Emma Roberts' Hotel For Dogs opened at number five. Despite opening at the top of the US box office horror movie Friday 13th could only manage number six.

There was a more disappointing opening for Notorious, which looks at the life and rise of the Notorious BIG, as it only managed number seven. But it was a good week for the box office as the top seven movies all broke the £1 million barrier.

1 Bolt - £2.84 million

2 Slumdog Millionaire - £1.82 million

3 He's Just Not That Into You - £1.78 million

4 The Curious Case of Benjamin Button - £1.77 million

5 Hotel For Dogs - £1.5 million

7 Notorious £1.1 million

8 The Pink Panther 2 - £821,726
