Taylor loves Mendel's work

Celebrity-adored fashion guru Gille Mendel has been awarded the Fashion Design Award 2011 at the National Design Awards from the Smithsonian's Cooper Hewitt, Nation Design Meseum.

Mendel beat off finalists Jason Wu and Prabal Gurung to claim to pretigious gong. He will receive his award at a gala dinner on Ovtober 20 in New York with fashionista and First Lady Michelle Obama serving as an Honory Patron.

The judges on this year's panel were impressed at the level of awareness in the finalists work to solve the issues plaguing everyday domestic lives; everything from the way we dress to how we interact with the wider world.

Mendel was singled out for his:

penchant for maintaining the highest standards while manipulating luxury fabrics in unexpected ways [which] has attracted top-tier clients who appreciate his timeless, cutting-edge and exquisitely produced fashions."

We can't wait to see what other designs he has up his sleeve!
