David Tennant

David Tennant has described his character in new movie Fright Night as a 'wonderful opportunity.'

The actor takes on the of Peter Vincent in the movie an illusionist/vampire expert/drinker in a remake of the eighties horror movie.

And Tennant admits that it was all these strands to the character that made him want to take on the role.

Speaking to The Huffington Post the actor said: "A Las Vegas illusionist, there is already something quite juicy to begin with, and the fact that his private life is a sort of car crash, from an acting point of view, one is quite keen to get one's vampiric teeth into.

"And then the fact that he's got a dark secret, the fact that he drinks too much, all these things are wonderful opportunities."

The movie sees the Scottish actor star alongside Anton Yelchin, Colin Farrell and Christopher Mintz-Plasse.

Tennant has already completed work on The Decoy Bride and he is lending his voice to the character of Charles Darwin in The Pirates! In An Adventure with Scientists.

Fright Night is released 2nd September.
