Geoffrey Rush has revealed that he couldn't resist his role in the Green Lantern.

The Oscar winner will be back on the big screen this summer as he takes on the role of Tomar-Reas the DC Comic is adapted for the big screen.

Speaking to Digital Spy the actor said: "Primarily [Tomar-Re] is a completely CGI-created alien, and so I went in and voiced it like an animated film.

"I had voiced an owl in Legends of the Guardian and I'd played a pelican and this guy was half-bird, half-fish with a bit of lizard thrown in.

"You can't resist."

It's already been a great year for the actor the critical, commercial and Oscar success of The King's Speech - which saw him nominated for his role as Lionel Logue.

He returned to the big screen at the weekend with Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides - in which he reprises the role of Barbossa.

The movie has already grossed $346 million in it's opening weekend and currently tops the U.S. box office.
