Henry Cavill has described Man of Steel as 'epically cool'.

The actor is set to take on the role of Clark Kent as the Superman franchise is rebooted next summer.

The actor teams up with director Zack Snyder and it will be the first Superman movie since Superman Returns back in 2006.

Speaking to Details the actor said: "We see so much on the news that's gruesome, to put Superman in the realm of fantasy, people won't buy it. And you want people to believe the story you're selling."

"I don't mean anything against the movies and TV shows that have come before, because they were of their time, but this is epically cool.

"People in the past have criticised the character for being a bit chocolate-box, a bit vanilla, and this is not that - at all.

"The lore is there that we're drawing from, but to create something from that which is reflective of life today - that's the trick."

An all star cast has been assembled for the movie as Russell Crowe, Amy Adams, Kevin Costner and Diane Lane are all also set to feature.

We may have to wait until next summer for the movie but it was announced last week that a new trailer for the film is set to play in front of The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey next month.

Man of Steel is released 14th June 2013
