Hilary Swank is taking her upcoming film role as famed aviator Amelia Earhart seriously - the actress is studying for a pilot's license.
Swank took to the skies for flying lessons to prepare for her part in upcoming film Amelia.
And the Oscar winner insists she's ready to become the latest celebrity pilot, despite being anxious about the solo flight she must take to earn her credentials.
She says, "I am (studying for my pilot's license). I don't sweat a lot, but when I fly, my whole back is drenched.
"The concentration, the focus. It is so wonderful. I just picked up my boyfriend in Las Vegas! He had a business meeting there, and I flew with my instructor and picked him up."
Swank will join good company in the skies - John Travolta, Tom Cruise, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt are all qualified pilots.
Amelia follows the life of legendary American pilot Amelia Earhart, who disappeared while flying over the Pacific Ocean in 1937 in an attempt to make a flight around the world.
Directed by Mira Nair the movie, and Swank's performance, is already gaining Oscar interest.
