James McAvoy

James McAvoy has joked about how he 'physicalised' his power for his role in X-Men: First Class.

The actor is back on the big screen this week as he takes on the role of Professor Xavier in the latest X-Men instalment.

Directed by Matthew Vaughn the film is an origins story that is set in the sixties.

Speaking to MSN Movies the actor said: "I saw what everybody else was doing and they all got to do really cool ninja stuff, but I don't really get to do anything.

"So, I thought I had to physicalise my power and came up with the master-stoke of touching my temple!

"I went through three months of intensive training. I even hooked up with a couple of temple ninjas who were based out of Dagenham."

X-Men: First Class is the first big budget blockbuster for McAvoy, who we haven't seen on the big screen since The Last Station.

X-Men: First Class is out now.
