Johnny Depp

Johnny Depp will not be replaced in the fourth Pirates of the Caribbean movie according to a source at Disney.

Rumours have begun circulating that the Oscar nominated actor's role of Captain Jack Sparrow would be re-cast after Depp admitted that his enthusiasm for reprising his role had diminished after the sacking of Dick Cook from Disney.

The veteran actor said following the departure of Disney chief executive Dick Cook last Friday (18.09.09), he will have to wait to see the script for 'Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides' before he will commit to the movie.

Johnny - who has played the lead role of Captain Jack Sparrow in the previous three instalments of the pirate adventure trilogy - said he was "shocked and very sad" about the news when Dick phoned to tell him he was leaving.

However a representative of Disney told Radar Online that these rumours were "completely unfounded" and there would be no re-cast.

Entitled Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides and will see Jack Sparrow once again team up with Barbossa to search for the Fountain of Youth.

The movie is scheduled for a 2011 release.
