Limitless

Limitless has topped the U.S. box office.

Limitless is a big screen adaptation of novel The dark Fields, which was written by Alan Glynn, and sees Bradley Cooper team up with Robert De Niro and Abbie Cornish.

Directed by Neil Burger the movie follows a writer who discovers a top-secret drug which bestows him with super human abilities.

Limitless took $19 million in it's opening weekend to top the box office and topple sci-fi movie Battle: Los Angeles.

There was no move at number two as Rango held firm but Battle: Los Angeles slipped two places to this week's number three.

The second new entry this week came in the form of The Lincoln Lawyer, which sees Matthew McConaughey return to the big screen.

The movie opened at four while Paul, in which Simon Pegg and Nick Frost reunite, was also new at number five.

Red Riding Hood, which is directed by Catherine Hardwicke, was down three places at six while The adjustment Bureau was also down three.

There were also three place drops for Mars Needs Moms, Beastly and Hall Pass as they ended the week at eight, nine and ten.
