Russell Brand has revealed that he enjoyed playing the Easter bunny in his new movie Hop.

Brand lends his voice to the Tim Hill directed movie, which also stars James Marsden and Hank Azaria.

Speaking to Collider the actor said: "I really enjoyed it. For me, the opportunity to play the Easter Bunny gave me a lot of license ‘cause he’s playful and mischievous.

"People couldn't see the peculiar gestures I was using to motivate that voice. A lot of them were like I was trying to land a plane on a matchbox.

"What I liked about it is that, in the world of children, there are very, very different rules and a naivete, an innocence and sweetness that’s been beautifully captured by this film.

It's been a busy twelve months for Brand on the film front having also lent his voice to Despicable Me as well as starring in Get Him To The Greek and The Tempest.

He is back on the big screen later this year with new movie Arthur, which sees him reunite with Helen Mirren.

Hop is released 1st April.
