The Dark Knight Rises has remained at the top of the U.S. box office for a second week.

The finale to the franchise by director Christopher Nolan has taken a further $64 million this weekend to comfortably stay at the number one spot.

There was also no move at number two as Ice Age 4: Continental Drift stayed put taking a further $13.3 million.

Comedy The Watch was the highest new entry inside the top ten this week as it openend at number three.

The movie marks the return to the big screen for Ben Stiller as he is joined on the cast list by Johan Hill and Vince Vaughn.

Step Up Revolution was the second and final new entry inside the top ten as it opened at number four.

Step Up Revolution is the fourth movie in the franchise and it took $11.8 million this weekend.

Ten fell just a single place to number five while The Amazing Spider Man dropped three places to number six.

Brave and Magic Mike were also down two at seven and eight while Savages was also a two place faller at number nine.

Moonrise Kingdom rounded out the top ten this week as it dropped just a single place from last week's number nine.
