The Dictator has ended Avenger's Assemble run at the top of the UK box office as it stormed to the #1 spot this weekend.

Sacha Baron Cohen is back with his latest comedy creation and the movie grossed £4.9 million in it's opening weekend to seize control of the top ten.

Avengers Assemble slipped just one place to number two after a three week reign as the #1 movie in the UK. The movie has now taken in excess of £42 million in the UK alone.

Dark Shadows was a none mover at number three while American Pie: Reunion fell two places to number four.

The Raid was the second and final new entry inside the top ten this week at number five. The Indonesian martial arts film is the latest project from filmmaker Gareth Evans as he teamed up with Iko Uwais once again.

Beauty and the Beast fell out of the top five this week as is slipped a single place to number six. The Lucky One was also down as it fell from four to seven.

Salmon Fishing in the Yemen was down just one place at eight while The Pirates! In an Adventure with Scientists was up two places from last week's number eleven.

Safe was this week's biggest faller as it dropped four places from six to ten.
