Everest is a movie that I have been looking forward to ever since the cast was announced and they started shooting... we don't have long to go no until it hits the big screen.

Everest

Everest is set to be one of the must see movies of this coming September as Baltasar Kormákur returns to the director's chair for the first time since 2 Guns back in 2013.

The movie is based on the true story of a climbing expedition on Everest that went wrong when the mountain was hit by a severe storm. The brand new trailer has arrived and it really does promise to be an edge of your seat ride. Check it out:

Kormákur has brought us movies such as Inhale, Contraband and The Deep during his career but Everest looks set to be one of the biggest films for him to date. For authenticity, Kormákur and co show in the Nepal on the foothills of Everest and the Italian Alps, as well as in studios in Rome and the UK.

Everest boasts one of the most impressive cast lists of the autumn as Jake Gyllenhaal, Josh Brolin, Jason Clarke, Sam Worthington, Emily Watson, Keira Knightley, and Robin Wright are all set to star.

The movie is already being tipped as a possible Oscar contender and could well find itself in the awards race at the end of the year - I guess we are just going to have to wait and see how that pans out.

Inspired by the incredible events surrounding an attempt to reach the summit of the world's highest mountain, Everest documents the awe-inspiring journey of two different expeditions challenged beyond their limits by one of the fiercest snowstorms ever encountered by mankind.

Their mettle tested by the harshest elements found on the planet, the climbers will face nearly impossible obstacles as a lifelong obsession becomes a breathtaking struggle for survival.

Everest is released 18th September.
