Ash Williams has been voted the Greatest Horror Movie Character Of All Time.

Bruce Campbell brought the character to life in The Evil Dead franchise: which was created and directed by Sam Raimi.

The character of Ash Williams hit the big screen for the first time back in 1983, going on to star in two sequels in 1987 and 1993.

Campbell was pleased with the result, saying: "I think your readers are fine, intelligent, discerning people with obviously a lot of taste."

Freddy Krueger from A Nightmare on Elm Street was second, while Hannibal Lecter from The Silence of the Lambs was third.

Freddy Krueger is one of the most iconic horror villains of all time and was brought to life by Robert Englund.

Hannibal Lecter remains one of Anthony Hopkins' most famous roles as he went on to win a Best Actor Oscar for his performance.
