Black Panther is one of the big new Marvel franchises on the horizon and will see Coogler in the director's chair.

It will be the third feature of Coogler's career but it will be the first time that he has directed Marvel film. Needless to say, it will be his biggest film project to date.

Speaking to EW, the director said: "The superhero field is a field where there's not a lot of representation. It's traditionally white male, but the fans look like the world.

"So, naturally, people are going to yearn to see someone flying around doing these incredible things that looks like them. It's an incredible opportunity, but that's what keeps me up at night - for better and for worse."

The movie will see Chadwick Boseman back as Black Panther, a character we were introduced to for the first time earlier this year in Captain America: Civil War.

Black Panther was one of the movies that featured at this year's Comic-Con, where it was revealed that Michael B. Jordan will play villain Eric Killmonger and Lupita Nyong'o will play Nakia, bodyguard and potential love interest for the title character.

Work is still underway on the script, which sees Coogler team up with Joe Robert Cole. The movie is based on the comic books by Jack Kirby and Stan Lee.

Black Panther will be one of three Marvel films released in 2018, Avengers: Infinity War Part 1 and Ant-Man and the Wasp being the other.

It is not yet known if we will see Black Panther make an appearance in Avengers: Infinity War - the cast list for the movie has not yet been announced.

Black Panther is released 6th July 2018.
