Bryan Singer says that X-Men: Days of Future Past is more than just another X-Men movie.

Singer is back in the director’s chair for an X-Men movie for the first time since X2 and will combine actors from X-Men: First Class with characters from the original and popular franchise.

And Singer has hinted that we will see elements in Days of Future Past that have not been explored in an X-Men movie before.

Speaking to SFX the director said: "It's not just another X-Men film. It’s not just about the combined cast as there will be certain technologies and other stuff that we haven’t seen before in the X-Men film.

"We wanted an opportunity to bring some of the favourite older and younger characters together. We also wanted to play with the notion of different times and stuff like the way that time affects destinies.

"It enables the film to not just be a sequel to First Class or X-Men 3, but to actually be its own thing."

The likes of Jennifer Lawrence, James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender are reprising their roles from First Class while the likes of Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellan, Hugh Jackman and Halle Berry will be reprising the roles of Professor Xavier, Magneto, Wolverine and Storm.

Filming is currently underway and this will be the first X-Men movie to hit the big screen First Class back in 2011.

First Class took the story right back to the beginning as the early days of Magneto and Charles Xavier’s friendship were explored.

X-Men: Days of Future Past is released 18th July 2014.
