During the promotion for X-Men: Apocalypse, there has been on question that we have all bee asking, 'will Hugh Jackman be back as Wolverine?'

That question was answered earlier this week when we caught a glimpse of him at the end of the latest trailer. Personally, I am thrilled to see Jackman back in this role.

The movie will see him reunite with filmmaker Singer and the director has dropped little hints as to what we can expect from this popular character this time around.

X-Men: Apocalypse

Speaking to Empire, the director said: "I will say it's not simple," he said. "There's something more pivotal that occurs with [the glimpse of Wolverine with his claws bared].

"It hints to a sequence that again fits within the canon of all six movies, and the birth of a new direction. It's not insignificant, nor is it simply just a throw-in. It's not the only shot you're gonna see, let's put it that way."

As well as seeing Logan in the new trailer, we also caught a glimpse of Josh Helman as William Stryker - a character that we did see in X-Men: Days of Future Past two years ago.

Are we going to get a new origins story for Wolverine? I guess we are going to have to wait and see. So far, Jackman is the only actor to have appeared in all five X-Men movies and the two Wolverine spin-off films.

Jackman will star alongside other franchise favourites James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, and Jennifer Lawrence while Oscar Isaac, Sophie Turner, and Tye Sheridan are some of the big new additions to the cast list.

X-Men: Apocalypse is the first time that we have seen Singer in the director's chair since X-Men: Days of Future Past in 2014, which was both a critical and commercial smash.

X-Men: Apocalypse is released 18th May.
