The Transformers movie franchise has been one of the most successful sci-fi properties of the modern day, and the film series is beloved by millions of people across the globe. Now, Travis Knight is stepping into the role of director on prequel movie Bumblebee, which will of course centre around the character of the same name. This week, a stunning new poster for the film has been revealed, which you can check out below:

Taking place before the first Transformers movie, which was released in 2007, the Christina Hodson-written flick will star the likes of Hailee Steinfeld, John Cena, Kenneth Choi, Jorge Lendeborg Jr., Jason Drucker, and Pamela Adlon. Though he's not director (for the first time) on this Transformers movie, Michael Bay will instead serve as a producer.

Bumblebee will take place in 1987, focusing on a small California beach town junkyard where a young teenage girl takes in Bumblebee. That kindness however means the young Charlie Watson (Steinfeld) will be forced to go on the run with Bumblebee, as the pair are hunted by a government agency known as Sector 7.

Cena takes on the role of Agent Burns, the leader of Sector 7 and the man who wants to bring Bumblebee in before the world discovers that there are many Transformers inhabiting the planet.

Set to be released in the United States in mid-December, we'll bring you more news on a UK cinematic release as and when we get it.
