Theron will be working with screenwriter Diablo Cody and director Jason Reitman - who also worked together on 'Juno' - on an as-yet untitled film about motherhood.

Their previous pairing 'Young Adult' received positive reviews but failed to resonate with Oscar voters and made just £15.5 million worldwide.

The 2001 dark comedy focused on Charlize's character Mavis Gray fiction writer who soon after her divorce, returns to her home in small-town Minnesota, looking to rekindle a romance with her ex-boyfriend, who is now happily married and has a newborn daughter.

Little is known about the new movie, other than that all three are in early talks to reunite for Cody's latest script, which draws on her own life experience and explores motherhood.

The untitled film will hopefully be a comeback for Reitman who, after breaking out with a string of successful films including 'Juno', has most recently made a lesser known releases melodrama 'Labor Day' and the dark comedy 'Men, Women & Children'.

The blonde beauty can be seen playing the Evil Queen in the fantasy prequel 'The Huntsman: Winter's War' - based on the characters in 'Snow White' - and is currently filming spy thriller 'The Coldest City'.
