Brad Pitt and Marion Cotillard star in the first image from their new film Allied.

Allied

Allied is a World War II drama and marks the return of Robert Zemeckis to the director's chair. Zemeckis has brought us movies such as A Christmas Carol and Flight in recent years and this is his first feature since The Walk last year.

Pitt and Cotillard are set to take on the central roles of Max Vatan and Marianne Beausejour, a British intelligence officer, and a French agent. And they take centre stage in this new image, which has been released by People.

This is the first time that Pitt and Cotillard have starred together and the first time that both actors have worked with Zemeckis.

The duo is joined on the cast list by Lizzy Caplan, Matthew Goode, Jared Harris, and Raffey Cassidy.

The movie is already being tipped as a potential Oscar contender and could well see Pitt, Cotillard, and Zemeckis in the awards mix.

Set in 1942, Allied follows Max and Marianne, who marry after a mission in Casablanca. But when Max is informed that Marianne may be a Nazi spy, he begins to investigate his own wife.

Allied is released 25th November.
