Chloe Moretz says she wanted to show a different side to Hit Girl in the Kick Ass 2.

The actress is back in the sequel to the 2010 but admits that she didn't just want to play the same old character.

She reveals that she wanted to get under the skin of this character and explore what the loss of her father has done to her.

Speaking to CBM the actress said: "What Jeff [Wadlow, writer and director] and I really wanted to improve was the real heart of it, because I wanted to show that this girl didn’t have a father anymore and how much that affected her.

"She’s really confused and going through the self-torture of, ‘Am I killing people because this is what I was raised to believe was a good thing, or am I just murdering people?’

"I wanted to show this inner pain and struggle, and the fact that she’s lost her only family, her father."

This time around Jeff Wadlow is in the director's chair for the film while Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Christopher Mintz-Plasse are also back.

This movie kicks off a busy period for the actress as we are going to be seeing her in Carrie, Laggies and The Equalizer over the next twelve months.

Kick Ass 2 is released 16th August.
