Deadpool was one of the biggest releases of 2016, smashing all sorts of records and raking in big bucks at the box office despite its high certification. Now, a sequel to the original movie is in the works and an official release date for the flick has been confirmed.

Deadpool 2 will be released via 20th Century Fox on June 1, 2018, with Ryan Reynolds returning in the titular role as the snarky and sarcastic anti-hero. Newcomers Josh Brolin and Zazie Beets are joining the cast for the new outing as Cable and Domino respectively.

John Wick co-director David Leitch will be the director on the new movie, after Tim Miller decided to step down following the first release.

The news came after Brolin took to his Instagram account to tease his work on Deadpool 2, which involved him being covered in a blue facial cast to allow for prosthetics to be added to his face, and to create a digitised version of Cable to use in the movie’s more action-packed scenes.

When it comes to storyline and plot details for Deadpool 2, they’re being kept closely underwraps. We’re sure all those working on the film have something special up their sleeves however, as the rabid fan base will certainly let them know if they don’t deliver something that’s up to scratch.
