Starring Sheila Hancock, Kevin Guthrie, Paul Brannigan, Amy Manson, and Wendy Morgan comes new film Edie, which will hit cinemas across the UK this May. Enjoying its premiere at last year’s Edinburgh International Film Festival, in which the movie was nominated for the Michael Powell Award, director Simon Hunter’s flick looks set to tick all the right boxes for people who want a heartwarming trip to the movie theatre. This week, a brilliant new trailer and poster for the film were released, which you can now check out below:

Hancock stars as Edith Moore; an elderly woman who escapes the clutches of her controlling husband following his death, and then decides to go and live out her dream of overcoming a bitter and resentful life. Aged 83, she does her all to recapture the magic of her youth by climbing a Scottish mountain, despite the advice given to her by her daughter.

Heading to Scotland, she employs a man called Jonny (Guthrie) to help her prepare for one of the biggest challenges of her life, sparking an unusual friendship and providing the audience with a beautiful tale, all set against the stunning backdrop of the Scottish Highlands.

In a time when the big screen is drenched in superhero flicks, action thrillers and the like, something so unique such as Edie could provide the perfect little pick-me-up for those looking for inspiration, or relaxation!

We're sure the responses to the film are going to be great, and we can't wait to see how audiences react when the movie finally makes its way to cinemas.

Edie will come to cinemas across the UK on May 25, 2018.
