Everest Holds Off Legend To Remain The UK's #1 Film

Everest has made it two weeks at the top of the UK box office, holding off the challenge from Legend.

Everest, which sees Jake Gyllenhaal, Jason Clarke, and Josh Brolin team up to tell this true story, took a further £1.9 million over the weekend to keep the number one spot.

Legend continues to perform well as it pressured Everest at the top of the box office. The Tom Hardy movie, for which the actor's dual performance has received acclaim, grossed £1.8 million to stay at number two.

In fact, there was no movement whatsoever inside the top three this wee as Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials was also a non-mover at number three. The movie has already topped the box office in the U.S. and took £1.1 million over this weekend.

Miss You Already, which sees Drew Barrymore team up with Toni Collette to tackle themes of friendship and the battle with cancer, was the highest new entry inside the top ten as it opened at number four.

Inside Out continues to perform well in UK cinemas after ten weeks on the chart, rounding off this week's top five.

Solace was the second and final new entry in the top ten as the thriller opened at number six. The movie marks the return of Anthony Hopkins to the big screen and he is joined on the cast list by Colin Farrell, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, and Abbie Cornish.

The Visit was this week's biggest faller as the M. Night Shyamalan written and directed film dropped three places from four to this week's number seven. The Empire Strikes Back - which is played as part of the Secret Cinema series - was down just one place at number eight.

Pixels was a re-entry into the top ten this week at number nine, while Bill was another none-mover at number ten. Bill is the latest offering from the team that brought us Horrible Histories and shows us William Shakespeare as we have never seen him before.
