2022 will see the arrival of Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore in cinemas, and fans are more than excited to see this prequel story continue...
The Fantastic Beasts franchise is set before the Harry Potter film franchise, and follows Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne) as he traverses the magical world of wizardry.
While fans are excited to see the next chapter in this story, there is one notable difference in the third film in the series: the absence of Johhny Depp. Depp previously played Grindelwald in the Fantastic Beasts films, but his court case with Amber Heard saw the actor removed from the project.
Mads Mikkelsen (Hannibal, Doctor Strange) now plays Dark wizard Grindelwald, which seems to be a good choice in the eyes of fans.
Audiences will watch Albus Dumbledore (Jude Law) attempt to stop the villainous Grindelwald, who is moving to capture control of the wizarding world.
After failing in his initial attempts to stop him, Dumbledore entrusts magical zoologist Newt to lead a fearless group of wizards, witches, and one courageous Muggle, on a treacherous mission in which they encounter beasts, both old and new, and clash with Grindelwald himself.
However, with the stakes so high and the world in danger, how long can Dumbledore stay out of the fight?
The movie features an ensemble cast alongside Redmayne, Mikkelsen and Law, including Ezra Miller, Dan Fogler, Alison Sudol, Callum Turner, Jessica Williams, and Katherine Waterston.
In the forthcoming film, fans can expect to see the familiar world of magic they have loved for so many years; there are more mystical creatures than ever before, and a brand new story that will expand this universe in new and enchanting ways.
Warner Bros. have promised a richly realised expansion of the story fans have been craving and so we're hoping for a transportive cinematic experience that lives up to the legacy of those that have come before it, with audience members of all ages able to enjoy the familiar connections to Harry Potter, as well as the magic and humour that have made the franchise such a beloved one.
Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore will be in cinemas on April 8th, 2022.
