Filming has got under way on new British psychological thriller Kaleidoscope.

Toby Jones is set to take on the central role in the new film as Rupert Jones is at the helm making his feature film directorial debut with the project.

Jones has a background in television, theatre, and short projects but this marks the transition into features. Matthew James Wilkinson and Maggie Monteith are also on board to produce.

Jones will take on the central role of Carl and is joined on the cast list by Anne Reid and rising star Sinéad Matthews.

Kaleidoscope is a taut, psychological thriller that explores the inescapability of a destructive relationship between a middle-aged man and his mother.

At the heart of this modern day 'Psycho' are some unsettling questions: Can we ever escape the role in which we are cast by our early circumstances? Must a perpetrator first be a victim?

Filming on Kaleidoscope will primarily take place in a London based studio.

It has already been a busy year for Jones as he has enjoyed success with Dad's Army. He has just wrapped filming on The Snowman, which is the latest Jo Nesbø book to be adapted for the big screen.

The movie sees Jones reunite with Tinker Tailor Solider Spy filmmaker Tomas Alfredson while Michael Fassbender, Rebecca Ferguson, Val Kilmer, and J.K. Simmons are on the cast list.

There is no word on when Kaleidoscope will be released in the UK.
