We love Tom Hanks here at FemaleFirst and the Oscar-winning actor is set to reprise the role of Robert Langdon in Inferno... and the first poster for the film has been unveiled.

Inferno

Inferno

Hanks has already played Langdon in The Da Vinci Code and Angels & Demons and Inferno is the latest of Dan Brown's books to be given the big screen treatment.

Inferno will see Hanks reunite with director Ron Howard - who directed the first two films - and it is great to see this actor and filmmaker working together once again.

Howard has assembled another terrific cast for the film as Hanks stars alongside Felicity Jones, Ben Foster, Irrfan Khan, and Omar Sy.

Inferno, which finds the famous symbologist (again played by Tom Hanks) on a trail of clues tied to the great Dante himself. When Langdon wakes up in an Italian hospital with amnesia, he teams up with Sienna Brooks (Jones), a doctor he hopes will help him recover his memories. Together, they race across Europe and against the clock to foil a deadly global plot.

The Da Vinci Code and Angels & Demons were released back in 2006 and 2009 and grossed $759.2 million and $485.9 million respectfully.

I am a fan of Hanks in this role and I cannot wait to see him return with Inferno, which is the latest of Brown's novels featuring Langdon to have been released.

Inferno is released 14th October.
