Netflix is the world's leading streaming entertainment service, with over 209 million paid memberships in over 190 countries; customers can enjoy TV series, documentaries and feature films across a wide variety of genres and languages. Members can play, pause and resume watching, all without adverts or commitments.

Films based on books are usually a big hit; take the Harry Potter and The Lord of the Rings franchises. While both series of films have things the books didn’t, and vice versa, they are still two of the most popular film franchises to date.

Standalone films also have great potential to become iconic adaptations, and Munich – The Edge of War may be heading to excellence. The movie is based on the international bestselling novel written by Robert Harris in 2018.

Autumn, 1938; Europe stands just on the precipice of war, as Adolf Hitler prepares to invade Czechoslovakia and Neville Chamberlain’s (Jeremy Irons) government desperately tries to find a peaceful solution.

With the pressure rising to an almost unbearable amount, Hugh Legat (George Mackay), British civil servant, and Paul von Hartmann (Jannis Niewöhner), German diplomat, travel to Munich for the pivotal Conference.

After the negotiations begin, the two friends realise that they are right in the middle of a political chicanery, and are in very serious danger.

The entire world is watching, mounting even more pressure on the already tense situation; can war be avoided? If so, what is the cost?

The first look images for Munich – The Edge of War showcase a simple yet effective look at what the movie will be like. The crisp, clean stills show us a dedicated-looking cast, with a rather bright colour palette, for the most part.

While we wait for a trailer, the images themselves should serve to excite audiences ahead of its release in both cinemas and on Netflix in 2022. With war films being a popular genre, now so more than ever perhaps, it is likely that this upcoming feature will draw many viewers in.

The movie will hold its premiere tomorrow (Wednesday, October 13th, 2021) at the London Film Festival.

Munich – The Edge of War will be in select cinemas in early January 2022; the movie will land on Netflix on January 21st, 2022.
