Halle Berry wants to star in a romantic comedy.

'The Call' actress - who is pregnant with her second child with fiancé Olivier Martinez - has revealed she only ever gets offered serious roles since earning an Oscar for 2001's 'Monster's Ball', but she is eager to show a softer side on the big screen after she gives birth later this year.

She explained to Empire magazine: "There's a movie called 'Shoe Addicts Anonymous' that's a comedy. I've been wanting to do a rom-com for a very long time, and this is my chance. That could happen very soon after I have my next child.

"I started off doing rom-coms early in my career, but after 'Monster's Ball' everybody thought that's all I wanted to do or should do."

The 46-year-old star - who also has five-year-old daughter Nahla with model Gabriel Aubry - suffered an injury on the set of her latest movie, which co-stars Abigail Breslin, but despite the risky nature of stunt-work, she still insists on doing her own stunts.

She said: "When you're an actor or actress who does their own stunts, there's always the chance you'll get hurt. When I bumped my head on this movie, it's because a guy crashed my head to the cement, misjudging the distance to the ground. But I'd rather do my own stunt work and be part of it."

'The Call' centres on a 911 dispatch officer (Berry) who tries to help a young kidnapped girl (Breslin) flee her captor over the phone in a tense thriller.

The film has proven to be a box office success in the United States and is due to open in the UK in September.
