Home has toppled Insurgent from the top of the U.S. box office this weekend.



Home is the latest offering from DreamWorks Animation and sees Rihanna, Jim Parsons, Jennifer Lopez and Steve Martin all lend their voices to the project. And it has proved to be a big hit for the studio as it took $54 million in its opening weekend.

The movie never really faced any tough competition for the top spot and held off Get Hard while ending the one-week reign of Insurgent. Comedy Get Hard, which sees Kevin Hart team up with Will Ferrell, was the second and highest new entry inside the top ten this week as it opened at number two.

After just a week at #1 Insurgent was a two-place faller this week as it slipped from one to three. However, the second film in the Divergent series has so far grossed over $180 million worldwide.

Cinderella was down two this week at four, while It Follows was a major climber as it jumped all the way from nineteen to round out the top five. The horror movie has been winning rave reviews from the critics and it has enjoyed a successful week in the U.S.

Kingsman: The Secret Service was down just a single place at six this week, while Run All Night was a three-place faller - dropping from last week's number three to seven.

The Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel continues to perform was as it slipped just a single place from seven to eight. It wasn't such good news for Do You Believe? As Mira Sorvino and Sean Astin movie was down three places from six to nine.

The Gunman was the biggest faller this week as the Sean Penn film dropped six places to round off the top ten.
