Inside Out

Pixar is the latest offering from Pixar and has been met with critical acclaim since premiering at the Cannes Film Festival earlier this year. The movie is already being tipped as the favourite to scoop the Best Animated Feature Oscar at the 2016 Academy Awards.

The movie has grossed over $329 million in the U.S. alone. however, it took three weeks for the film to finally dethrone Jurassic World at the top of the U.S. box office.

Despite being the first Pixar movie not to open at #1 in the U.S., it was still the biggest opening for an original Pixar movie - breaking the record set by the Incredibles. It is the second biggest opening of all time behind that of Toy Story 3.

The movie has also enjoyed huge success outside America, easily topping the box office in the UK. So far, the movie has grossed over $272 million in the rest of the world.

Inside Out is currently the fifth highest grossing movie of 2015 so far, behind Jurassic World, Fast & Furious 7, Avengers: Age of Ultron, and Minions. It is the second most successful animation film of the year behind Minions.

It remains to be seen if Inside Out can overtake Minions - the Universal Pictures / Illumination Entertainment is currently the fourth highest grossing movie of the year on $854 million.

Inside Out was tipped as one of Pixar's most adventurous movie projects yet - following the emotions in the mind of a young girl - but director Pete Docter has steered it to success.

Inside Out is the third Pixar feature film for Docter, who has already enjoyed success with Monsters Inc and Up in recent years.

A terrific voice cast was assembled for the film, as Amy Poehler, Phyllis Smith, Bill Hader, Lewis Black, Mindy Kaling, Diane Lane, and Kyle MacLachlan are all on board.

Inside Out is out now.
