Jessica Chastain says that she has loved working on a horror movie and hopes to do more in the future.

The actress leads the cast in the Guillermo Del Toro produced film Mama, which is currently top of the U.S. box office.

And Chastain says that so many of the actresses that she admires have tackled this genre and she was excited to follow in their footsteps.

Speaking to The Playlist the actress said: "You think about Nicole Kidman, Naomi Watts, Mia Farrow, Jamie Lee Curtis.

"So many women I really respect have done these great characters in horror films. And I'm excited. I hope to do even more! I love it so much."

Chastain toppled herself from the top of the U.S. box office as Mama brought Zero Dark Thirty's reign to an end.

Zero Dark Thirty has been a huge critical success for Chastain and she has picked up a second Oscar nomination for her central performance.

Mama sees her team up with actor Nikolaj Coster-Waldau while Andrés Muschietti is in the director's chair.

Mama is released 22nd February.
