Joaquin Phoenix

Joaquin Phoenix

Joaquin Phoenix is no longer in talks to star in Doctor Strange, according to Deadline.

Doctor Strange is set to be one of brand new franchises for Marvel, and Phoenix was believed to be the favourite to take on the title role.

However, Deadline have reported that those talks have broken down and Phoenix is no longer in the picture for the role.

But Marvel Studios have wasted no time in moving forward with casting this role, as it is believed that Tom Hardy, Jared Leto, and Benedict Cumberbatch are just some of the other great actors that they are looking at and considering.

Earlier this year, a string of release dates were announced for a series of untitled Marvel films, and Doctor Strange was believed to be one of the most important projects.

We do know that there will be a third movie for both Captain American and Thor as part of that schedule.

As for Phoenix, Her and The Immigrant are the two movies that we have seen him in so far this year, but he has a couple of exciting projects on the horizon.

Inherent Vice is one of those projects, as he reunites with The Master director Paul Thomas Anderson.

Inherent Vice is already being tipped as a possible Oscar contender and sees Phoenix star alongside Josh Brolin, Reese Witherspoon, Owen Wilson and Benicio Del Toro.

Phoenix has also completed work on an as yet untitled Woody Allen film; this will be the first time that he has teamed up with the filmmaker.
