Suicide Squad director David Ayer helms the flick, which follows the stories of two LAPD police officers played by Smith and Edgerton. Taking place in an alternate modern day, Smith plays human Officer Ward, whilst Edgerton is orc Officer Jakoby. Forming an unlikely duo, they do their best to keep the streets of Los Angeles safe, but come up against their most challenging threat when they venture into an underworld where dark forces are at work.

With personal differences stopping them from reaching their full potential as partners, the pair will have to learn to work together if they’re to take out the threat facing them, which is searching for a long-forgotten relic that could destroy absolutely everything if in the wrong hands.

Joining Smith and Edgerton are Noomi Rapace, Lucy Fry, Edgar Ramirez, Ike Barinholtz, Enrique Murciano, Jay Hernandez, Andrea Navedo, Veronica Ngo, Alex Meraz, Margaret Cho, Brad William Henke, Dawn Oliveri and Kenneth Choi.

Max Landis wrote the screenplay, with Ayer, Eric Newman and Bryan Unkeless serving as producers.

Working off a budget of $90 million, it’s going to be very interesting to see just how critics and the wider viewing public respond to Bright upon its release. It’s got a huge slew of big names to bring in the viewers, but Ayer’s work in the past has divided people immensely. Hopefully, it’ll be a major success and allow the fantasy world on Netflix to be one that can live on for some time. Otherwise, Netflix could have a huge loss on their hands…

Bright comes to Netflix in all territories where the streaming service is available on December 22, 2017.
