Jordana Brewster and Adrien Brody will star in 'American Heist'.

The 'Fast & Furious 6' beauty and 'King Kong' actor have joined the cast of the upcoming action movie alongside star-and-producer Hayden Christensen, according to TheWrap.com.

As well as the seasoned actors, music star Akon will round out the leading cast.

The film - which is a remake of the 1959 Steve McQueen-directed film 'St. Louis Robbery' - centres on two brothers with criminal pasts whose family ties are tested when they take part in a botched bank heist.

Brewster certainly has the credentials to star in the movie after playing Mia Toretto in four of the 'Fast & Furious' films, including the recently released sixth instalment. The high-octane franchise began as a street-racing film series but the last few films have centred more on heists.

'American Heist' will be produced by 'Star Wars' actor Christensen's new production company, Glacier Films, which plans to produce 11 films over the next three years.

Brody is best known for his Oscar-winning turn as Władysław Szpilman in 'The Pianist' in 2002. He is next set to star alongside James Franco and Mila Kunis in romantic comedy 'Third Person' directed by Paul Haggis.

Brewster - who also has a role on the TV remake of 'Dallas' - will film the seventh 'Fast & Furious' film this summer for release in 2014.
