Josh Brolin says working with Spike Lee on Oldboy just felt 'right'.

Brolin will return to the big screen next week for a remake of the cult classic, a movie that sees him team up with Lee for the first time.

And the actor reveals that he and Lee has been looking for a project to work on together for some time.

Speaking to Flicks and Bits the actor said: "I think we picked this one just because of the extremes of the project and behaviorally it’s the craziest thing we could possibly do together.

"I love Spike and I love the extremes of his personality and I think vice-versa. We couldn’t wait to find a project together, so it could have been the story of Mickey Mouse and I’m sure we would have done it (laughs), but it was this.

"It just seemed right. When we were both together we started riffing on what it could possibly be. It just felt right."

Oldboy is a remake of the Pan Chan Wook film, and sees Brolin star alongside Elizabeth Olsen, Samuel L. Jackson and Sharlto Copley.

Brolin will be back on the big screen next year as he teams up with Kate Winslet for Labour Day. He has also completed work on Sin City: A Dame to Kill For and Inherent Vice.

Oldboy is released 6rh December.
