Starring Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart, Jack Black, Karen Gillan and Nick Jonas in its leading roles, the Jumanji franchise will return this winter with upcoming movie Jumanji: Welcome To The Jungle. This week, Sony have revealed a new video for the film, showing the evolution of Jumanji, from the original film all the way up to this year’s addition. Check it out below:

This time round, the tables will be turned for the teenagers who discover a video game version of Jumanji. Instead of bringing everything the jungle has to offer into their own world, the four teens are warped into Jumanji’s world, forced to take on the roles of their video game avatars and take on the challenges that lie around every corner.

Quickly discovering that the game plays those involved rather than being played by the gamers, they become embroiled in one of the most dangerous adventures in their lives, and must fight for their real lives or face being stuck in the game forever.

Written by the co-writers behind Spider-Man: Homecoming, Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers, as well as Jeff Pinkner and Scott Rosenberg, the movie takes place a number of years after the original, but fortunately it looks like long-time fans will be gifted with a connection to the original film.

Jake Kasdan serves as director on the movie, with the likes of Bobby Cannavale, Missi Pyle, Rhys Darby, Maribeth Monroe, Madison Iseman and Alex Wolff all also starring. Dwayne Johnson is also a producer on the film and said of his involvement in a chat with Screen Rant: “When it came to me it was just really the opportunity to tell a great story. Hopefully we tell a great story. It was the opportunity to take something [that] was beloved, that I loved, that me and my family loved years ago, by the way. So it was that. It was the opportunity to tell a beloved story to a whole new audience.”

Jumanji: Welcome To The Jungle hits cinemas across the UK on December 20, 2017.
