Winslet is back on the big screen today as she leads an all star cast in A Little Chaos - a movie that sees her reunite with Alan Rickman in front of the camera and be directed by him for the first time.

And the actress reveals that she was drawn to the film's love story as well as the strong character of Sabine De Barra.

Speaking exclusively to us here are FemaleFirst, the actress said: "When I first read the script for A Little Chaos, I just loved reading it, as it is a really lovely, accessible, contemporary period film. At the heart of it is this beautiful love story. I hadn't been in a period film for a long time and I hadn't played a character with an English accent for a very long time. So, for me, I was very excited about that.

"I love the character of Sabine as she is very very strong, she is a very determined woman, she is very joyful and positive, and I don't think we often see that these days in films. She is extremely open hearted, bohemian, and none conforming in the way that she thinks and the way that she functions in her life. I have huge admiration for her as a character and I was really looking forward to the experience of playing her."

Winslet has not shared the screen with Rickman since they starred together in Sense and Sensibility, and the pair are joined on the cast list by Matthias Schoenaerts, Helen McCrory, and Steven Waddington.

2015 is set to be a busy year for the actress, who has already enjoyed box office success with Insurgent. The movie saw her reprise the role of Jeanine in her first film since she starred in the prequel Divergent last year.

Winslet has also completed work on Triple 9 and The Dressmaker - both due to be released later this year - and has just wrapped on Steve Jobs.

Steve Jobs is a biopic from director Danny Boyle and will see Winslet play Joanna Hoffman alongside Michael Fassbender and Seth Rogen.
