Bell teams up with McCarthy for the first time in the upcoming comedy The Boss, which sees Ben Falcone back in the director's chair for the second feature film of his career.

And the actress admits that she was nervous about working with McCarthy but says that she was made to feel very 'safe' by her co-star.

"Initially, it was nerve-wracking sharing the screen with Melissa McCarthy. It is daunting because she is so exceptional as a comedian. The most special part of Melissa is not that she is a comedy genius, but that she genuinely wants everyone around her to succeed, be lifted up and be a genius in their own right.

"My first day of work, I was very nervous because I had always wanted to work with her and my husband and she and her husband have been friends ever since they were on stage together when they were twenty - I was always so jealous of that. She is just a joy to work with and makes you feel very included and very safe. I think that is why she does such good work because she loves it."

McCarthy is set to play titan of industry Michelle Darnell in the film and Bell is on board as her personal assistant Claire. The pair is joined on the cast list by peter Dinklage, Ella Anderson, Kathy Bates, and Annie Mumolo.

2016 has already been a hugely successful year for Bell, as animation film Zootropolis has just become the highest-grossing film of 2016 so far.

She has also completed work on CHiPs and Bad Moms, both of which are set to hit the big screen later this year.

The Boss is released 10th June.
